Ingredients

  1. 6medium sized snake gourd peeled and cut into small pieces
  2. 2 tablespoonspoppy seed soaked in water
  3. to tasteSalt
  4. 2green chillies
  5. 3/4 tspturmeric powder
  6. 1/4 tspkalojeera/kalounji or nigella seeds
  7. 1 tablespoonoil for cooking

Cooking Instructions

    Grind the poppy seed paste with little water to make a smooth paste.

  2. 2

    Take a kadai and heat it. To the hot kadai, add oil and let it heat.

  3. 3

    Once hot, add the kalojeera/ nigella seeds to the oil.

  4. 4

    As the kalojeera starts spluttering, add the chopped snake gourd.

  5. 5

    Add the turmeric powder, salt and green chilies.

  6. 6

    Keep stirring for few minutes and then cook covered. Add the poppy seed paste

  7. 7

    Add water if necessary.

  8. 8

    Cook the snake gourd till it is completely done and there is no water in the kadhai.

  9. 9

    Serve with steaming rice.
