Ingredients

30 minutes
4 servings
  1. 1 cupwhole mung, soaked overnight
  2. 1chopped medium size onion
  3. 1 tbspginger garlic paste
  4. 1 tspcumin seeds
  5. 2 tsptamarind paste
  6. 1 1/2 tspcrushed jaggery
  7. 1 tspgaram masala powder
  8. 1Green chilli
  9. 1 sprigcurry leaves
  10. 3 tbspoil
  11. To tasteSalt
  12. For grinding:
  13. 1/2 cupdesiccated coconut
  14. 1tomato
  15. 4 or 2 tspdry byadgi chillies or byadgi chilli powder
  16. 2 tspcoriander seeds

Cooking Instructions

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Grind ingredients given with, make fine paste

  2. 2

    In a pressure cooker heat up oil, add cumin seeds, when it crackles add chopped onion

  3. 3

    When onion turns light brown add ginger garlic paste, curry leaves and chopped green chilli

  4. 4

    When oil starts separating add ground paste

  5. 5

    On slow flame fry till masala is fried well.

  6. 6

    Add tamarind paste, jaggery and garam masala powder

  7. 7

    Fry for few minutes, add soaked and drained mung

  8. 8

    Add sufficient water and salt, cook for 3 whistle.

  9. 9

    When steam is released it's ready to serve
