Hot dogs at home never seem to taste as good as the ones we can get at a local hot dog stand. You know, the ones with the steamed buns that are wrapped in the white paper - and the paper turns orange from the chili.... yum! This recipe isn't about quality ingredients or nutrition, (let's face it, eating a hot dog is never about nutrition) but it is about getting that "hot dog stand" flavor at home.

Get those hot doggies a jacket, cause they're about to get a little chili!This is super simple and delicious. You'll never want to buy it canned again!If you or someone you're preparing this for does not like beans you can totally omit them. I just love beans in my chili and chili dog sauce!

Feel free to omit the chilies for a more mild sauce

After making chicken enchiladas with green sauce, using a canned sauce, I decided to try and make my own homemade green chili sauce. Looked at a bunch of recipes and combined them to make this one. It came out great and is much better than the canned sauce. Note: I tried using red Fresno peppers but after roasting the skins got tough and I could not remove so I threw them out.

Just a on the fly housemade BBQ sauce when you're in a pinch to go out and buy some.

I had some ground pork and I wanted to see how it would taste in my sauce. We ate it as chili. Froze some for future date. Saved some for tonights dinner. Plan to add elbow macaroni to it and top it with cheese. I hope you enjoy the recipe.

This red chili can be used for enchiladas or adovada.

I love Heinz Chili Sauce but didn't have any in the house, so had to make my own. This is probably the closest you will get to the original recipe. However I actually prefer mine better.
