Cooking Instructions

Method For preparing the baatis
Mix the semolina, wheat flour, carom seeds, salt and ghee. - 2
Add water gradually (little at a time) and knead into a stiff dough.
Divide the dough into 15 equal portions and shape each portion into an even sized round ball. Flatten the balls gently. You can put a cross with a knife on each so that they get cooked well. - 3
Now heat up an appe pan. Grease the cavities

Place battis in the cavities and cover with a lid. Let them cook for 15 -20 minutes

Let them cook for 15-20 minutes then brush them nicely with ghee and turn each batti upside down for cooking the other side.
Cover again and leave for cooking for nearly 20 more minutes - 6
It took around 40-45 minutes to be cooked like this.

When they are done put them in melted ghee, When they are hot so that they can soak ghee

If making in an oven.Preheat the oven for 10 minutes at 180 degrees

Place all the battis in a greased tin and let them bake for 20 minutes
Now apply ghee on each bati and turn them on the tray again. - 10
Let them bake for another 15 minutes so that they get cooked well from both the sides.

When done remove from the oven and dip in ghee.
Serve with panchmel dal
