Cooking Instructions
- 1
Salt your pork ribs and boil in water with the bay leaves and peppercorns for 20-30 mins to make it tender. Set the broth aside.
- 2
After boiling get a new pan and heat butter with cooking oil for shallow frying.
- 3
Sauté the garlic slices until fragrant.
- 4
Then add in your pork ribs and render the fat on all sides.
- 5
Then add the red wine vingar, soy sauce and Worcestershire. DONT MIX OR STIR YET. Just cover the pan and let it be for 7-10mins, let the vinegar cook thru.
- 6
After 10 mins when vinegar smell is gone, now you can use your spatula to mix and get all sides of the pork dressed with the vinegar-soy sauce. Add a couple tbsps of the pork broth to help if it seems dry. Season with a dash of salt and pepper while stir-frying.
- 7
Sprinkle five-spice powder on all pieces. Continue mixing and stir-frying.
- 8
Sprinkle five-spice again and continue sautéing. I did about 3 rounds of five-spice sprinkling until I got the desired color, aroma, and fat-rendering.
- 9
Serve hot and pair with rice, pasta or veggies.

Spice-ly Sweet Slow Cooker Pork Ribs Spice-ly Sweet Slow Cooker Pork Ribs
I made a mix of spices based on another recipe but had leftover of spice mix. I CAN'T throw it away when it's perfectly good! So after thawing out some pork ribs, I had to do something with the leftover spice. Waste not, want not. And here it is, a spice-ly sweet pork rib dish? Because the measurements are only an estimate, adjust according to taste. Mix together the measurements, have a taste (yes, the dry mix) before marinading or mixing it together with the raw pork, and then dump it all together in the slow cooker and you're good to go. You can actually add carrots, root vegetables or capsicum/bell peppers into it. Marsha M -
