Jyaga Maru Kun (ジャガ丸くん)

I'm a fan of the light novel / anime series Danmachi (Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?) by Fujino Ōmori and here's my take on the Jyaga Maru Kun from the series, which is described as a spiced potato puff or croquette. Of course, none of this is official, just my idea of how it might be! 🇯🇵🥔

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Peel and quarter the potatoes. Put them in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook the potatoes on medium high heat until they are tender, about 20-30 minutes.
- 2
When the potatoes are cooked, drain, and return to the stove. On low heat, shake the potatoes and let the remaining moisture evaporate being careful not to burn the potatoes.
- 3
Transfer potatoes to a large bowl. Mash them and add butter. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano.
- 4
Shape the mashed potatoes into ovals about 6 cm long. Cover and let chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour.
- 5
Heat oil to 175°C. Dredge the croquettes in flour, egg, and panko, coating fully. Fry until golden brown, turning occasionally, about 3 to 4 minutes. Drain excess oil on paper towels.

Yomogi Manju Yomogi Manju
I wanted to eat freshly-made, piping-hot manju. For the filling, since I like really sweet adzuki, making it by hand is the fastest way!Since yomogi wasn't in season, I bought dried yomogi instead.I used dried yomogi this time. Depending on the kind of dried yomogi, the preparation methods may differ, so follow the instruction. Of course, fresh yomogi is best! The dough is extremely soft and sticky. This time, I refrigerated it before handling, which made it a lot easier. For 12. Recipe by Te-03 cookpad.japan -

"Komugi-Manju" USAGI (Rabbit) "Komugi-Manju" USAGI (Rabbit)
"Komugi" means wheat flour. It's a recipe for making "Usagi(Rabbits) Manjyu "with plain flour & baking powder instead of rice flour & Yam. It's easier to make than "Jouyo-Manjyu".*A process of making the buns is based on traditional way with a little modification. Yu-Art Kichijoji -
Jyoyo (Chinese Yam) Manju Jyoyo (Chinese Yam) Manju
I made these from ingredients I had on hand.If made correctly, the dough will be elastic like marshmallows and will make little popping sounds when stretched apart. Test the dough often while mixing; if it's done before all of the flour is incorporated, stop and do not try to mix it all in (this is key.) Recipe by Maberun cookpad.japan -
Marugame Seimen-Style Bukkake Udon! Beef Torotama Udon Marugame Seimen-Style Bukkake Udon! Beef Torotama Udon
A copycat recipe for Marugame’s hot & cold bukkake udon. If you mix the egg with the beef, it tastes just like sukiyaki! Perfect for lunch. If you skip the meat, it becomes torotama udon.About this recipe:I saw a commercial this morning and created this recipe in my head, then cooked it for real and it turned out delicious. I went to the Marugame in the nearby Aeon mall to taste the original and made a few tweaks. The recreation is very accurate, so I’m sharing it here. It’s been a while since my last copycat recipe series. サブちゃん♪Translated from Cookpad Japan -

Yomogi Shiratama Yomogi Dango For Beginners Yomogi Shiratama Yomogi Dango For Beginners
Enjoying the yomogi which I picked when I went for a walk with a standard taste. You can enjoy it from just a little amount. The amount would change with the amount of yomogi and the amount of water squeezed out. But this time, 1 tablespoon of ground yomogi + 3 tablespoons of flour + 20m water, I was able to make 8 mini shiratama.I didn't want to wash dishes so I kneaded it in the mortar. But you can also mix in another bowl too. But sticking the yomogi to the dough would be the same. Recipe by one_k cookpad.japan -
Baby harbor seal -Jouyo Manju (Wagashi) Baby harbor seal -Jouyo Manju (Wagashi)
"Jouyo-Manjyu" is a king of buns, a traditional Japanese sweet which is a bean paste ball wrapped with dough of grated Yamaimo & rice flour. Yamaimo is a Yam, a kind of root vegetables. When we just say "Kome-ko=rice flour", we mention "joushin-ko". But I recommend to use "Jouyo-ko" for making "Jouyo-Manjyu" it's finer than Joushin-ko. The texture is very soft and "mochi mochi". I made baby harbor seals with it! Yu-Art Kichijoji -
