Extremely Easy! Hamburger Steaks Simmered in Ketchup Sauce

I was so surprised when my friend told me her way of making-simmered hamburger steaks, by just adding lots of ketchup! But they're really delicious. I had been using canned tomato sauce up until then...This not only tastes like a restaurant-quality dish, it's really easy to make too!

Make the hamburgers with as much meat and vegetables as you like. You cover with a lid and stew, but make sure to take the lid off halfway through if you are using lots of water and check it. For 3 servings. Recipe by rokaroka

Ingredients

3 servings
  1. 250 gramsMinced meat (with minimal fat)
  2. 1/2 cuppanko (I used sliced bread crusts)
  3. 100 mlMilk
  4. 1 mediumOnion
  5. 1Egg
  6. 1 mediumOnion
  7. 1 packagesMushrooms (Shimeji, Maitake, etc.)
  8. 100 mlKetchup
  9. 380 mlWater (Vegetable Juice if you have it)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Add milk to the panko to soften.

  2. 2

Add the microwaved onions, ground meat, and eggs to a bowl and knead. Add salt and pepper, and nutmeg if you have.

  3. 3

Fry on both sides in a frying pan. Wipe out the excess grease in the pan with a paper towel.

  4. 4

Add the onions and mushrooms. You don't need to saute them.

  5. 5

    Squueze in the ketchup.

  6. 6

Add the water (or vegetable juice if you have it... this makes the flavor richer).

  7. 7

Cover with a lid without stirring and slowly boil over low-medium heat.

  8. 8

The moisture that comes out of the vegetables will turn the sauce into a tomato sauce. Simmer to reduce it down to your desired consistency.

  9. 9

I added coffee cream as the finishing touch.
