BBQ Hamburger!! 🍔

June 25th was my husband’s birthday, and I gave him a getaway to a cabin in Gravenhurst (Ontario), about two hours by car from Toronto!
It was a surprise — on the same day, I wrote in his birthday card that I was going to kidnap him for two days!! 🤭 I decorated his office with balloons, a Happy Birthday banner, and a birthday card.
I got up at 5:30 in the morning to set it all up so he’d get the surprise as soon as he woke up!
Of course, there was a barbecue, so on the night of his birthday we made lamb and asparagus for dinner, and the next day for lunch, a couple of burgers, Spanish-style fries, and a corn on the cob!
Normally, I like to make the burgers myself, mixing ground meat with egg, garlic, parsley, salt, and breadcrumbs — but this time I bought them because I didn’t have all the ingredients in the cabin.
I’ll show you the cabin too 😉… It was amazing!

Cooking Instructions
- 1
First, we’re going to heat some olive oil in a pan, and meanwhile, we’ll peel and cut the potatoes.
- 2
We’ll take the 4 garlic cloves and crush them with a knife so they release their juice once we put them in the pan.
- 3
We’ll heat up the barbecue.
- 4
We’ll put the potatoes in the oil to fry. Stir them from time to time so they cook evenly on all sides.
- 5
Once they’re nicely fried, we can take them out. Let’s place them on a plate or in a bowl with some paper towel to absorb the excess oil. Add salt to taste!
- 6
While the potatoes were frying, we will have peeled and thinly sliced the onion, and once we take the potatoes out, we can use that same oil to fry the onion and add it to the burger later!
- 7
Once it’s nicely fried, we’ll take it out as well and set it aside.
- 8
While the onion was cooking, we put the burgers and the corn on the barbecue (I only made one because my husband isn’t a big fan, so he didn’t want one.).
- 9
When the burgers are almost done, we’re going to toast the buns a little. We can add the slice of cheese on top of the burger so it melts.
- 10
We’ll slice up some tomato and rinse two lettuce leaves.
- 11
We’ll spread some mayo on the bun and assemble the burger!
- 12
This is how it turned out!!! The meat was super juicy, and the combination of everything… Spectacular!
- 13
The corn on the cob was delicious too! I had bought some butter to spread on it, but I liked the flavor so much on its own that I didn’t use any.
- 14
The cabin couldn’t have been more beautiful!
- 15
And with the outdoor fire pit, we were super cozy! (In Spain, it’s typical to go out for a little beer with some chips and olives to do “el vermut” — and that’s exactly what we did there!)

I had made it the instant pot but put it in my smaller crockpot on low. Barbecue cheeseburger meatloaf Barbecue cheeseburger meatloaf
This is yet another one of those spur-of-the moment recipes which I love. Not only are they great for exercising creativity, they're also extra satisfying when they turn out well. Which this one definitely did. This time around, it started with a package of mince. The original plan was to turn it into smashburgers or koftas, but my wife requested meat loaf instead. So it was off to the market to get some ingredients. As I walked through the cheese aisle it occured to me that I could make the loaf a hundred times more interesting by adding cheese to it. And maybe not just sprinkled cheese on top, but somehow stuffed inside the loaf so it'd get all gooey and melty. Needless to say, I finished the shopping trip lickety-split and zipped straight home to get to work. As I said off the top, the dish turned out well. That's actually an understatement, because between my wife and I (our daughter ate ahead, because it's a school night) we managed to finish half of a pretty big loaf, along with a healthy serving of mashed potatoes. So yeah, there you go. Barbecue cheeseburger meatloaf. It's a thing, it's delicious, and you should give it a try. Robert Gonzal -
Juicy Hamburger Steaks Juicy Hamburger Steaks
I took tips from various recipes as reference, and came up with my own version![Tip 1] Knead the meat in 2 batches, kneading it the first time until the meat becomes fluffy.[Tip 2] Make sure to thoroughly remove trapped air pockets when molding the patties (or else they will break apart when cooking).[Tip 3] Pour boiling water into the pan to prevent the temperature of the pan from dropping. For 2 servings (3 hamburgers). Recipe by Annakarenina cookpad.japan -
Hamburger Patties Hamburger Patties
I got the spices from my local butcher, who was selling them in limited quantity. Using those spices, I made a hamburger patty. It's super good!If you can get coarsely ground meat from your butcher, it's even more delicious! Be careful not to over-mix or over-cook! When flipping the burgers, be sure not to press down on them! The patties are pretty juicy and the juice will come out. Make sure you use fresh panko. Recipe by Uniikura cookpad.japan -
