Bread pudding. Every good cook should make it once, and then maybe just move on. It's been done to death and in every horrible form imaginable. But, it's a forgiving introduction to custard, and if you do it right, it's pretty tasty.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Gently melt together butter and sugar.

Stir in milk.

Whisk in the eggs.

Place bread cubes in a baking dish. Pour egg goo over the top and Press down bread cubes to submerge and soak up the mixture.

Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until set and golden brown on top.
