Steps
- 1
Make sure your eggs at room temperature, so take them out of the fridge an hour or so boiling them, if the eggs are cold, they'll crack when they're cooking.
- 2
Test to see if your egg is fresh, I do this by dropping the egg gently into a glass of water, if it sinks and lies flat then the egg is fresh, if it sinks and rises a few times then it isn't fresh but it's ok, if it floats straight to the top then it's stale
- 3
Bring a saucepan of water to a boil
- 4
Reduce the heat and carefully drop the egg in with a spoon
- 5
Turn up the heat and bring it to a boil again, then reduce it and leave it to simmer
- 6
Simmer it for approximately 3 and a half minutes for a hard white and runny middle
- 7
Take the egg out with a spoon and cut off the top with a spoon, flavour it to taste with salt and pepper
