A sweet and savory dish. Kind of like the asian version of pulled pork. After finished the meat melts in your mouth.
Can also use a pork cut with some fat instead of beef.

Ingredients

  1. 1 tspsalt
  2. 2 lbsliced beef brisket
  3. 2 tbsplight soy sauce
  4. 3 cupswater
  5. 1 tspsugar
  6. 1 bulbgarlic
  7. 1 tbspchinese five spice powder
  8. 2 tbsphoney
  9. 3 stickscinnamon
  10. 1 tbspcoriander seeds
  11. 1 tspwhole black pepper
  12. 5 piecesstar anise
  13. 1onion

Cooking Instructions

    Star anise, black pepper, coriander seeds, 5 spice powder, cinnamon sticks

  2. 2

    Take a large pot, add water, add 5 spice powder, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, cinnamon sticks, coriander seeds. Bring water to boil.

    Once water is boiling add the beef. Boil for 30 minutes

    Chop onion, add to pot. Add garlic as whole cloves. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour 30 minutes.

    Once majority of water has evaporated and you have a thick sauce in pot.
    This the most important part , be sure to cook off most of the liquid.
    Add the sugar and honey stir in well.
    Cook for another 10 minutes on low heat.

    Serve the beef and sauce with rice
