- Although this recipe calls for spinach, my favorite way to fix this dish is substituting the spinach for 2 (10 oz) packages of broccoli.
- This recipe is my adaptation of vanilla french toast from the Virginia Department of Rehabilitation Services cookbook, Delicious Recipes Shared. My family loves this and every time my kids have friends stay over, their friends often request a copy of the recipe to take home. The vanilla extract, nutmeg and frosted corn flake cereal are my additions to create more texture and depth to the recipe. I hope you enjoy this and have fun making and sharing it with your family.

I found this recipe in one of the Cake Mix Doctor books and has been a go-to recipe for a number of years. That said, the size of candy bars have changed over the years. To make this easy for me, I usually buy 2 packages of the small candy bars that have 8 in a pack and use one for the cake and one for the glaze.
