Rice porridge (faten shinkafa)

Ingredients

  1. Rice
  2. Spinach
  3. Tomatoes
  4. Scotch bonnet (attarugu)
  5. Sorrel leaves (yakuwa)
  6. Groundnut oil
  7. Spices
  8. Beef meat
  9. Onion

Cooking Instructions

    Grind rice to break it into smaller pieces (i.e a barza shinkafa)

  2. 2

    Blend tomatoes, Scotch bonnet and onions

  3. 3

    Wash your spinach and sorrel leaves, then use knife to chop the leaves until they have reach the size that you desire. Keep aside.

    In a clean pot, fry your tomatoes paste with groundnut oil

  5. 5

    When fried and oil appears, add a few cups of water (depending on the quantity of your rice)

  6. 6

    When the water boils, wash the rice,add in the rice and stir

  7. 7

    Add spices

    When it's almost done, on a low heat add spinach and sorrel leaves

  9. 9

    In a different pan, cut beef meat into small pieces

  10. 10

    Fry them in 1 cup of oil

  11. 11

    Add salt and any other seasoning you have

  12. 12

    Add small water and cover it until it is fried

  13. 13

    Serve it with your rice porridge.
