Cooking Instructions
- 1
Coarsely grind or chop the walnuts, almonds and pistachio nuts.
- 2
Mix the walnuts, almonds, 50g of the pistachio nuts, the cinnamon and 4 tbsp. of sugar.
- 3
Melt the butter in a pan.
- 4
Cut the fillo leaves to the size of your baking pan by stacking them on top of each other, putting the pan on top of them and cutting around it with a sharp knife.
- 5
Butter the baking pan, add 1/4th of the fillo leaves one by one, basting each one generously with the melted butter. Add 1/3rd of the nut mixture on top of it.
- 6
Continue making layers with another 1/4th of the fillo leaves, followed by 1/3rd of the nut mixture and so on. The top layer will thus be fillo leaves.
- 7
Cut the finished "layer cake" into rhomboid shapes using a sharp knife.
- 8
Bake at 200C for approximately 25 minutes or until gold brown.
- 9
While the baklava is in the oven, gently heat the honey, the water and the remaining sugar until you obtain a thick syrup. Add a dash of lemon juice and some lemon zests.
- 10
Let the syrup cool down a little. Take the baklava out of the oven and let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes.
- 11
Slowly pour the syrup over the baklava. Decorate with the remaining pistachio nuts and let stand to cool down completely.

Baklava Rolls Baklava Rolls
To welcome the new year with something sweet, we made these baklava rolls. This is a simple recipe—delicious thanks to the fresh butter, and crispy because of the preparation method. When rolling, make sure to roll gently, not tightly, and don’t press the two buttered phyllo sheets together; leave some space between them and butter them well. Also, bake slowly for a long time. These are the secrets to tasty, crispy baklava! Baklava with Lemon Syrup Baklava with Lemon Syrup
I'm not really a syrup kind of pastry fan, I am more of a white chocolate with strawberry fan. :) But because I do love to cook and bake I decided to make this Greek Syrup Pastry. Greeks tend to eat syrup based pastries, one of the favorites is Baklava. The Almonds and Walnuts added to this pastry, along with the lemon syrup just gives a really delicious taste.I do enjoy eating a piece of Baklava once in a while....:) Foodzesty -

Baklava from Kos Baklava from Kos
Dedicated to my mother—these are the first Christmas holidays without her. Thank you for teaching me patience, love for cooking, and good manners. Even when I failed, she always encouraged me with kind words and taught me so much. I hope I can live up to her example. Everything traditional I make, I learned from her. It smells like Mom!
