Great easy breakfast! I doubled the recipe for my crew of 5 and had about 1/3 of it left.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 400°F (F).
Prepare a small casserole dish (approximately 7x10) with cooking spray. Set aside. - 2
Open biscuits, and cut biscuits into quarters.
Layer half of the quarters in prepared pan.
Bake for 10 minutes. - 3
Meanwhile, prepare gravy.
In a heavy skillet, brown the ground breakfast sausage over medium high heat until fully cooked.
Sprinkle the cooked sausage with 3 Tablespoons of flour.
Use a wooden spoon to stir flour into sausage until completely absorbed.
Lower heat to medium, and cook flour/sausage mixture for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add milk, and stir to combine.
Add salt and black pepper.
Stir frequently until mixture comes to a slight boil.
Taste, and adjust seasonings as desired. (I usually add more black pepper)
If the gravy is too thick, add a bit more milk. You want the gravy to be thickened but not too thick, not "globby," it should still be slightly runny. - 4
Pour gravy over the cooked biscuits.
Layer the remaining uncooked, quartered biscuits over the gravy.
Place casserole dish on a baking sheet, and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. If they start to over-brown, you can cover with foil for the last 10 minutes or so.
Serve immediately.

I think this was a Pinterest find and a good one at that. I have to hand write my "finds" or I never find them again! The nice thing about this is it keeps well, slices nicely and kept me from making breakfast for three or four days. cindybear -

Biscuits and Gravy Biscuits and Gravy
I first fell in love with this hearty brunch meal moving to the Mid West when I was younger. The restaurant I had it in was never replicated in flavor at any other establishment or recipe I came across. I've tried duplicating that recipe many, many times. This still honestly isn't close but it is full of flavor. I use pinch terminology in my ingredients as the spices should just be back notes and not prominent. When you try this, taste the gravy as you go and adjust. I do every single time as the breakfast sausage you use can alter the results. Taylor Topp Comacho -
