Cooking Instructions

Preheat your oven to 180°c. Prepare your baking tin and measure out your ingredients. Sift the flour and baking powder and keep aside.

In a bowl, cream (mix) together the sugar and butter until fluffy and pale. (About 5-7 mins if using an electric hand mixer. Longer if you are using a wooden spoon)

Add the eggs, one at a time until thoroughly mixed.

Add the vanilla essence and beat for a minute.

Keep the mixer aside. Fold in the flour alternating with the milk until fully combined. Put into your baking tin and bake for 40-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.

Leave to cool in the tin for about 10 minutes then remove from the tin an cool completely before icing. I used whipping cream for this cake. You can use buttercream, fondant or any other icing of your choice.
