Happy New Year, everyone! What’s cooking?

Hi, everyone!
Another year of delicious memories behind us already! Looking forward to all of us sharing and creating more kitchen connection together in the year the come.
This NYE, we’re potlucking and hanging at a friends’ ranch. My contribution’s pretty easy - oysters on the half shell and Rockefeller style. Lots of shucking and not much cooking for me today. 😬 Sometimes it’s really nice when everyone shares the work.
I’ll be posting my Rockefeller recipe later after I have a chance to take pics.
I hope you'll share your favorite NYE recipes with our community so we'll all have lots of delicious ideas to work with.
Looking forward to seeing what you've got cooking today!

I'm thinking this year, I might do a rich oxtail stew, or maybe a pernil (pork roast), or maybe just go all seafood. Haven't decided yet, but I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.At any rate, I hope you'll share your favorite holiday recipes with our community so we'll all have lots of delicious ideas to work with.Looking forward to seeing what you've got cooking this holiday season! :)Just a reminder of our guidelines if you're not familiar:https://cookpad.wasmer.app/us/community x -

Lovely New Year's Treats! Bunny Buns Lovely New Year's Treats! Bunny Buns
It'll be moon-viewing time (tsukimi) soon. I didn't want to just make boring old dango (rice dumplings), so I made these roly-poly cute little bunny buns. They're easier than you think.Stretch out the dough so that it's the same thickness all over. If you're new at this, preparing 20% more dough than usual will make it easier. The sweet bean paste is easier to wrap up when it's hardened. If it's too soft, evaporate some of the water in the microwave. These should be stored at room temperature and eaten the same day they're made. Recipe by Choco makaron cookpad.japan -
Braised Chicken and Vegetables (New Year's Food) Braised Chicken and Vegetables (New Year's Food)
This has been my favourite staple dish for years. Since it will last for a long time, it's good for osechi (New Year's Food). It's also great to have it on hand.Shaking the pot to flip and move the ingredients around instead of stirring with chopsticks while simmering will prevent them from falling apart. It will taste better after the next day because the ingredients will have absorbed the seasoning flavours. Recipe by Raby cookpad.japan -

Chinese New Year Noodles Chinese New Year Noodles
We like to expose our son to different cultures and traditions. In reading his books on Chinese New Year, we learned that noodles are a blessing for longevity.I decided to take my Peanut Sauce recipe and combine it with my Asian Inspired Marinade for my homage to Chinese New Year.I believe that the best way to understand another culture is through food. When you understand the history behind a dish, then you should understand the culture.Enjoy! J.A.B. -
QOTW: What are your Valentine's Day food plans? QOTW: What are your Valentine's Day food plans?
Happy weekend, kitchen friends! It's time for our QOTW (Question of the Week) where we'll be talking about ingredients, methods, and sometimes just plain fun food stuff. This pic is from that one time I made Valentine's Day Toad in the Hole with Seared Foie Gras for breakfast. :)Since we're mostly homebody types who like quieter meals with low commotion, we tend to stay in on Valentine's Day because restaurants are usually slammed. So I'm starting to think about our menu in for Thursday night.Sometimes I like to make some kind of pasta with a really rich, developed meat sauce, like oxtail prepared osso buco style. Sometimes a seafood feast hits the spot - oysters, shrimp cocktail, steamed Dungeness. Can't ever go wrong with a steak dinner for the hubs. Still chewing on it...Right now I'm leaning towards seafood. :)))So this week's question: Whether it's cooking in, dining out, or even doing the usual because you're just not keen on Valentine's Day, WHAT ARE YOUR VALENTINE'S FOOD PLANS?Looking forward to your answers!~ YFNCM :) x
