An Easy Way to Peel Chestnuts!

I wanted to make the bothersome job of peeling chestnuts easier. I experimented with the pressure cooker until I settled on this recipe. The pressure cooked chestnuts will still be on the firm side, good for making chestnut rice.

Pressure cooking the chestnuts for 2 minutes softened them too much that some crumbled when I tried to peel them, so about a minute is good! Recipe by Yumina

Ingredients

  1. 1Chestnuts
  2. 1Water

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Make a 5 mm cut on the bottom of each chestnut.

  2. 2

Put the chestnuts in the pressure cooker and add enough water to cover.

  3. 3

Bring the pressure over high heat. When the pressure comes up and you can hear steam escaping, turn the heat to low and pressure cook for 1 minute.

  4. 4

Wait until the pressure drops naturally. If you're in a hurry, pour cold water on the pressure cooker. The pot and chestnuts will both be hot, so be careful!

  5. 5

Soak the chestnuts in a bowl of cold water. Use your hands or a spoon to peel the outer shell and inner skin.
