Wonderful, I love pickling! Here is my secret. The very bottom of the cucumber carried the flower. It turns the cucumber mushy when pickled. By slicing it flat, you get better pickles. Or, you can add one grape leaf to each jar, it neutralizes the effect of the bottom flower bud.
