Easy Japanese-Style Hamburg Steak with Grated Daikon Ponzu Sauce

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback! Juicy hamburg steak topped with grated daikon for a refreshing taste. It's so delicious, it will make you shiver (haha). The origin of this recipe: I wanted to create a Japanese-style Western dish that pairs well with wine. You might think, 'Butter with Japanese-style hamburg steak?' but trust me, butter is amazing here. It pairs perfectly! With shiso leaves and grated daikon, it's surprisingly refreshing. This is my heartfelt recipe, so please give it a try!
Cooking Instructions

Finely chop the onion, place it in a microwave-safe dish, and heat in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Let it cool. Soak the breadcrumbs in milk.

In a bowl, combine the ground meat, cooked onion, breadcrumbs, and ingredients marked with ■. Knead well. Shape into ovals, making an indentation in the center to form the patties.

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Place the patties in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned, then flip them over.

Sprinkle sake or water over the patties, cover with a lid, and steam for 4-5 minutes. Cook through, and when juices run clear when pierced with a skewer, transfer to a plate.

In the same pan used for the hamburg steaks, add the ingredients marked with □ and simmer until the alcohol evaporates and the sauce thickens.

I prefer a sweeter taste, so I use more sugar. If you're concerned about sugar, reduce the amount in the □ ingredients.

Pour the sauce from step 5 over the hamburg steaks. Top with shiso leaves and drained grated daikon radish.

For reference, serve with rosemary sautéed potatoes, sweet glazed carrots, and arugula.
