  1. 250 gramsGreen Moong dal
  2. 2Chopped onions
  3. 2 tablespoonsTomato puree
  4. 1small tomato chopped
  5. 1 teaspoonJeera
  6. 1 teaspoonChopped garlic
  7. 1 teaspoonGarlic paste
  8. 1/2 teaspoonGinger paste
  9. 2Chopped green chillies
  10. 1 teaspoonJeera powder
  11. 1 teaspoonDhania powder
  12. 1 teaspoonGaram masala powder
  13. 1/2 teaspoonHaldi powder
  14. 3 tablespoonsOil
  15. to tasteSalt
  16. Chopped coriander leaves to garnish

Cooking Instructions

    Boil and keep dal aside

    Heat oil in a kadahi and toss in jeera it it crackles. Add the chopped garlic and fry till it turns brown

    Put in onions and fry. Add Haldi and salt to taste. Put tomato puree and chopped tomatoes and stir.

    Put in the ginger and garlic paste and mix well.

    Add chopped chillies

    Cover and cook on low flame

    Now put in the powdered masalas except garam masala

  8. 8

    Pour in the dal and blend well. Add a cup of water and half teaspoon garam masala. Cook well.Cover and simmer

    Open lid and sprinkle rest of the garam masala

  10. 10

    Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or paratha.
