If you don't have sea salt can you add normal salt?

Certainly. I would happily use normal table salt, Mariam. The advantages of sea salt are basically that it can add a “grittiness” which I like and the granules are easy to handle so you can be very precise in sprinkling it, etc. Maldon Sea Salt also happens to be local to us and we tend to support local food producers, so ditto with Wilkins’ jams.
