Mashkalia or urad dal gosht

This recipe is specially cooked for my Maa.
My mother is the most important person in my life. She is the inspiration and world's best cook for me. I always tried to cook what she likes. Mashkalia is one of the most favorite dish of her and I learnt to cook it from her. It is basically cooked with mutton simmered with spices, mixture of skinned black gram or urad dal .Dal and spices gives a twist to your usual mutton curry and tastes delicious.

It is basically cooked with mutton simmered with spices, mixture of skinned black gram or urad dal .Dal and spices gives a twist to your usual mutton curry and tastes delicious.
Cooking Instructions

First clean and washed urad dal then keep in a strainer to remove water leave it until the dal become dry. cut the onion into slices and chopped green chilies.clean and washed the mutton.

Take a pressure cooker add oil heat it.add whole spices and saute for few seconds add onion slices saute until they turn light brown.add washed mutton,ginger garlic paste and green chilli. mix it

Add coriander powder turmeric and red chilli powder along with salt.mix well.cooked on high flame for 3-4 minutes.add 1 cup water cover and cooked for a whistle on high flame.then turn the flame medium and cooked for two whistle.meanwhile heat a pan and dry roast the dal for 2 minutes.keep aside

After three whistle turn off the flame release the pressure naturally.the mutton cooked half done.add the roasted dal mix and saute for two minutes.add two cups water cover and pressure cooked for three whistle on medium flame.release the pressure the mutton and dal mix well.add some water as desire consistency,add garam masala powder and bring it a boil.

Now take a tempering pan add 2-3 tbsp oil heat it add sliced onion when it turns light brown add kashmiri red chilli powder and whole red chilli.when onion turn golden brown turn off the flame.pour this tempering into mutton dal.add cumin powder.garnish with coriander leaves and serve with roti or plane rice
