Poha(flatten rice) is an integral part of Maharashtratrian cuisine. Here I have prepared poha by adding onions and potatoes in tempering.This is a very popular Maharashtrian breakfast. Kanda Batata poha means onion potatoes seasoned flatten rice.

Poha(flatten rice) is an integral part of Maharashtratrian cuisine. Here I have prepared poha by adding onions and potatoes in tempering.This is a very popular Maharashtrian breakfast. Kanda Batata poha means onion potatoes seasoned flatten rice.
Cooking Instructions

In a bowl add poha, pour 1 glass of water, and immediately drain all water after 5 to 10 seconds. Keep poha on a big strainer so that it will be moist but non-sticky

Now heat oil in a kadhai or heavy bottom pan
- 3
Add mustard seeds and cumin, once it starts to splutter, add chopped green chilies and sliced onions

Saute till onion turns translucent, add salt, turmeric powder, peanuts, green peas and thinly sliced potatoes

Mix everything well, cover, and cook till potatoes become soft
- 6
Now add moist poha, sugar, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Combine everything well, cover and cook for 2-3min on low flame

Now turn off the flame, add lemon juice, chopped coriander leaves
- 8
Serve hot poha with a lemon slice and any sweet.
