Thinly slice everything. Boil water in a pot and add the bouillon cube to make broth.

Heat a frying pan and melt the butter. Once it bubbles, add the onions and sauté. Once coated in oil, spread them out and leave on medium-high heat for 3 1/2 minutes.

When the side touching the pan is nicely browned, stir everything, spread out again, and leave on medium heat for 1 1/2 minutes.

After that, stay by the pan, stirring and spreading occasionally, watching to prevent burning, until the onions are caramelized.

Once done, they should look like this. The volume will have reduced significantly.

Turn on the heat under the broth pot, add the caramelized onions, taste, and adjust with salt and pepper. Be mindful of the cheese's saltiness, so go easy on the salt.

Lightly toast the baguette slices. Rub the cut side of the garlic clove on them for flavor.

In a dish, layer (broth and onions → baguette → cheese) twice, then bake in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and looks good.

Garnish with parsley if you like, and enjoy it hot! The sweetness, the gooey cheese, and the baguette soaked in soup are irresistible!
