This is a good, basic recipe. For Bavarian style add about 1/8 tsp. caraway seed per package. We process 80 lbs./year for our 3 families and friends, using standard canning methods to preserve. One use is to place 1 quart sour kraut with 2-4 chicken breasts or a pork roast for 4 in slow cooker until done with side of mashed potatoes. Serve kraut on potatoes. (Traditional).
