I did not do this yet, but I just wanted to say, thanks for posting this! Seafood is still a mystery to me! Information like this will help me a lot! I will update the review once I've done it.

Not everyone will have access to a live fish market...so if u ask to smell the fish (yes this is tricky) u should not smell a strong fish odor...if that is what it smells like it is BAD. As a Retired Meatcutter selling fish and seafood for more than 20 years.....I always offered the customers a sniff if desired....it never should be a problem at any place selling fish. A very slight hint of fish means it is fresh...or freshly thawed.
