I started experimenting with pies and cobblers. I had some peaches and decided to try and make a cobbler. So I made a typical batter and baked this.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupunsalted butter
  2. 1 cupall-purpose flour
  3. 2 cupsugar, divided
  4. 1 tbspbaking powder
  5. pinchsalt
  6. 1 cupmilk
  7. 4 cupfresh peach slices
  8. 1 tbsplemon juice
  9. 1ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)

Cooking Instructions

    Melt butter in a 13- x 9-inch baking dish.

    Combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt; add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.

    Pour batter over butter (do not stir).

  4. 4

    Bring remaining 1 cup sugar, peach slices, and lemon juice to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly; pour over batter (do not stir).

    Sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg, if desired.

    Bake at 375° for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Best served warm.
