This recipe doesn’t have roots only in African American food history. This recipe is Southern history. A beautiful combination of all Southern backgrounds like cornbread. We have this recipe on New Years for good luck, served w greens (mustard, collard, etc.). Swine is also a major component. I am South Carolinian- rice was our history. Good start to a recipe but needs TONS of more work and homework.
