It just gives the batter mix a seasoned flavour. Or you can add Chilli powder, cayenne pepper, red pepper or Paprika, or curry powder mix if you want to flavour the batter mix. The egg whites I had put in by mistake I was answering a another cook just before your question. I took egg white out of the ingredients. 😀
