I have actually tried it both ways, not draining the grease does give it that yummy, rich flavor......BUT WOW, do you PACK and the extra calories, but yummy yummy yummy, and of course tweak it the way you want it tweaked it the way your family likes it. We don't like too much of the sour cream so we decrease it, your family likes it increased it, just try and enjoy it
