I got to thinking Keith. When I lived in Osan, South Korea as a kid, there was a very popular dish there called Budae Jjigae ["Army Base Stew" - created in the early 1950's after the war by Korean civilians with the food shortages] that featured spam and hot dogs. Since you're the King of meat in tube form - you should create and post this recipe! It's right up your ally!

back when i made S.O.S. i started to make that too. so you can look forward to it in the future. i was thinking about making it for the kids at church for our annual food around the world.

the army base soup has many variations but they always have hotdog sausages, spam, tofu, mushrooms, and kimchi or cabbage. i made something like it its ramen cabbage and sausage its posted. i do want to make army base soup its a very important part of history. ♥

The Kimchi is imperative in this dish! Yummy! In fact, I'm having my students make Kimchi next week but it'll take at least 2 weeks to ferment in my clay pots. I got this delicious recipe from a 104 year old South Korean woman. Wished I could send you some!

yeah i have made some here a couple of times. there is a Korean market not far from my house. a lady Ms. Kim she is Korean and makes an awesome kimchi! but in the army base soup i will use my recipe.

My students are excited to see what you do with it! Especially the boys!

"I was thinking about making it for the kids at church for our annual food around the world." Keith, I love the fact that you're willing to teach children about their food heritage! Noble indeed!

the setting is in medieval time period we teach them camping, chivalry, sportsmanship, knife safety. their treats come from many areas like Asian candies, jelly babies from the United kingdom. many different things a huge melting pot. we teach them how to cook over campfires. like biscuits in a cast iron Dutch oven.

Noble indeed teacher! And chivalry? Adorable! P.S., there's nothing better than biscuits or corn bread cooked in a dutch oven! Oh, and thick white sausage gravy! I swear I must own 10 or more of them! All varied sizes. One is literally GINORMAGANTUAN and I bury her underground in the desert sand, [i.e., stews and chilies] Both of us need to promote the joys of those bad boys! I think that'll be next month's lesson for my students! Thanks for the lesson plan idea!

I adore anyone who makes it a point to teach the younger generation. It's literally the only thing I need to know about another human being next to how they treat animals. Excellent work!
