Homemade Baking Tubes for French Style Bread

These handy tubes are easy to make at home! They support your dough to prevent over stretching and flattening of loaves during baking.

Step 1. Cut a cardboard tube from wrapping paper tube in half, and prepare 2 sheets of aluminum foil, which should stick out 2 inches/5 cm from both edges of the cardboard tube.

Step 2. Place the cardboard tube on the aluminum foil and roll up from the edge.

Step 3. Fold the end and tuck into the hole on both sides. Repeat Step 2 and 3 for the other tube.

Example of how to place these tubes when baking French style bread.

Great idea! If you sliced the cardboard tube lenghtwise, bending it open, wrapping it in aluminum foil, you might have another french baguette maker!
