Ingredients

1 hour
1-2 servings
  1. 1 cuprice flour
  2. 1 cupwater
  3. 1 tbspcardamom powder
  4. 1/2 cupyellow moong daal
  5. 2 tbspfreshly grated coconut
  6. 4 tbspjaggery
  7. 1 tbspwhite sugar
  8. pinchsalt

  1. 1

    Wash and cook the moong daal. Daal(lentil) should not be cooked untill mushy, it should have a soft bite to it.

    Once done, strain any extra water and keep it aside. Now heat ghee in a pan and add moong dal, jaggery, cardamom and mix well.

    Mash the dal a little along with the rest of ingredients so the flavours will blend it. Cook for 3-4 mins and remove from flame.

    In another pan add water, a pinch of salt and sugar and bring to simmer. Add rice flour to it slowly while stirring to avoid any lumps.

  5. 5

    Once the mixture has formed a dough like consistency, switch off flame and allow it to come to warm temperature.

  6. 6

    Take water in a bowl. Rub water on both palm. now take a small dough and flatten it, add filling and close the dough to form a circular shape.

  7. 7

    Repeat the steps with all, keep brushing water to palm to avoid the dough to stick. Wash palms if it gets too sticky and start again.

  8. 8

    Note: Don't allow the rice mixture to cool down completely, otherwise it won't hold shape and will break.

    Once the dumplings are ready, steam it for 15-20 mins. Remove from steamer and allow it to cool. Serve.
