Klepon (glutinous rice balls with palm sugar filling)
Another one of my mother's recipes for #mycookbook.I have glutinous rice and dessicated coconut and wanting to eat something chewy. This is also only need to be boiled.I like eating them cold but if you want the filling to be liquidy, eating warm is the best. Careful of explosion though, one of my British friends sadly living the tale of sudden palm sugar explosion.Malaysian also calls this onde-onde but for me onde-onde is a different snack (that I will make next time), so no worries, this is the same snack.Utensils:bowl, pan

Energy balls (tahini, oat + orange)
These are a nice little healthy snack. They're best eaten chilled, straight out of the fridge. How to adapt this recipe:Start with a base of oats, tahini and melted coconut oil. Oats provide bulk, while the tahini and coconut oil both provide flavour and help it to all stick together. Now you can experiment with the additional ingredients:✨ Prunes, dates or other dried fruit add sweetness. Alternatively, use a sweetener, like honey.✨ Orange zest adds a nice zingy bright flavour that counters the oats and tahini which can be quite claggy otherwise. It's a strong flavour so if you don't like orange, leave it out✨ Cinnamon is a nice earthy spice. Maybe try allspice or a little ground cardamom as alternative?✨ Salt is the magic ingredient! Lovely with sweetness of dried fruit for sweet/salty vibe✨ Try adding a handful of nuts✨ Swap the sesame seeds for ground flaxseeds or leave out completely.

Red bean sesame balls
I love this dessert and first learnt to make these when I had a lot of red bean paste at home. In my larder I always have glutinous rice flour.I like to experiment and make different recipes and red bean filling is my favourite but the sesame balls can be filled with many other kinds of fillings such a sesame paste or peanut butter. My family love it when I make these at home and I usually make twice as much as I tend to gift them away as well. I love eating them when they are freshly made and pipping hot but these are also great cooled down.#redbeansesameballs#redbean#sesameballs#Snack#Dessert

Glutinous rice balls (sticky rice balls)
The second dessert recipe for my cookbook. Sticky rice balls is one of my favourite things to eat as it is so versatile and can be used in many desserts. This is something I usually eat when I am out and about in Chinatown. I love the texture of the sticky rice balls as it is so chewy but also not too sweet. They go so well in desserts as it adds another texture.I make my sticky rice balls plain, but they can be adapted to make taro or sweet potato flavour. They can also be stuffed with red bean, peanut butter or even black sesame paste. My family and I prior to lock down, used to go a dessert place called Meetfresh in Chinatown and have desserts with sticky rice balls. However as we have not been able to go down lately, I decided to learn how to make these. The recipe is super easy and only requires three ingredients. As I usually make such a large batch, I freeze the sticky rice balls so I always have some in my freezer for when family come over.I hope you enjoy making and eating it as much as family does.#mycookbook#stickyriceballs#glutinousriceballs#dessert#toppings#week22#mycookbookproject

Teriyaki Fish Balls
In Melbourne where I live, Fish Balls are widely available. As Japanese Surimi (fish paste) products such as Chikuwa and Kamaboko are hard to find, I stock Fish Balls for always. It’s so handy to have them because I can make an extra dish instantly. This dish is great to eat with freshly cooked rice. Perfect for lunch box, too.

My yogurt balls
Hi my dear page visitors. I am just in love with these #yogurt balls. Aren’t they gorgeous? They look like jewels. Very healthy, light and tasty snacks. It is fantastic when you see how easy yogurt transform into these tasty balls.Once you made your yogurt balls , you may keep plain yogurt balls in a jar with some olive oil or topping and serve them. For making these tasty yogurt balls you would need to get rid of yogurt liquid and I made it with traditional method, as you would see in the following recipe. Also you have myriad choices for topping from dried herbs to seeds and nuts.

Pandan Glutinuos Rice Ball with Coconut Sugar Filling
Our #traditional dessert. There is no measurement to this dessert. To make the dough, add water until you have a soft dough. The amount of flour is very much depending on what ever is left in the pantry. Then there’s coconut. Use fresh or frozen grated coconut (not dried desiccated coconut). Fry without oil and adjust your sugar. Very simple. The Filling is optional. Making this without filling, your #glutinous #rice #balls need to be small.A very basic dessert, indeed, and of course there are many versions of this recipe out there with few added ingredients like adding different type of flour, different filling (s), limewater etc etc.Back in the days, however, all those extras were luxury. This dessert was made from the scratch. My family planted our own rice, glutinuos rice (apart from fruits, veggies, tapioca, millet, cocoa, coffee, rubber, pepper berries), the colour is from Pandan Leaves (dad planted at the back of our house), coconut from our own coconut trees. Sugar was the only ingredient bought. So yeah, it’s super traditional 🥰😍#dessert #snack #starch #breakfast #lunch #dinner #pulut #tepungpulut #kuih #kue #Malaysia #singapore #indonesia

Nutty coconut balls
Bringing you another delicious, easy to make recipe, which you can relish for your iftar and even eid celebrations. These nutty coconut balls, aka Nutty Coconut Ladoos, are full of nutritious nuts and can be made in less than 15 minutes.Similar to panjiri ladoo, these nutty coconut ladoos are made without the, char magaz (mixture of four melon seeds), wheat flour, semolina and aromatic spices. Nevertheless, they are still highly nutritious and will satisfy your sweet tooth and do your body good! They are really versatile because you can sub any nut and add any seed you like. You can absolutely double or triple this recipe to make a huge batch in the beginning of the week or even a few weeks out. Just place them in an airtight container before putting in the fridge.Decadent enough for dessert, healthy enough for breakfast, they are a great post iftar treat that will replenish you or a great addition to your sehri or suhoor.

Healthy protein balls
I made these protein balls for my husband as an post-gym snack so I added a scoop of his protein powder in it. But they would work perfectly fine if you want to make these without the protein powder as a mid-day snack.

Baklava bliss balls
Baklava is a sweet dessert made of layers of flaky phyllo pastry filled with crushed nuts, butter and sweetened with a simple syrup made of sugar, water, and lemon juice..Making baklava at home may seem like a big undertaking. Trust me; it’s easier than you think. You’ll find many variations of this beautiful dessert from Middle Eastern baklava, where the simple syrup is scented with rosewater, to Greek baklava with walnuts and a generous sprinkle of cinnamon within. The choice is yours as to which you love to make.Pistachios or walnuts are the most commonly used nuts. But you don’t have to use just one or the other. I love to use a combination of nuts and plenty of them! The shape is also up to you. Make them in squares, diamond, rolls or into balls as I have done. Just place a ball of the nuts mixture in centre of a square pastry, pleat, brush with ghee/butter and bake. The texture of crisp, flaky phyllo pastry, the nutty filling and the cold syrup, it is all you want in a dessert. Baklava is the perfect make-ahead dessert because it’s even better the next day!

Arancini balls
I love to eat risotto and the bonus to that, is that I usually have enough leftovers to make this dish for next day lunch or snack.Arancini is made using leftover risotto, which are filled with mozzarella cheese. They are shaped into large rice balls, dipped in flour, beaten eggs, breadcrumbs and then deep fried. This goes down a treat as I love how the mozzarella cheese just melts and oozes out when eaten.#newcookschallenge#Italian#Italiancuisine#arancini#leftoverrisotto#meltedmozzarella#aranciniballs#breadcrumbcoating#ChristmasGift

Raw Chocolate and Coconut Protein Balls
Completely natural, packed full of nutrients and the perfect sweet treat on the go with very little effort required! All you need is a food processor and a set of scales. You can use any type of nuts you want really, I just recommend going with 100g total and make up at least 40% with almonds. Try adding a big Tbsp of natural peanut butter too if you’re looking to bulk them up a bit. #mycookbook
