I love a good stir fry, such a good mid week dish as it’s quick, tasty and healthy. I’ve never even heard of pumpkin oil before, I’d like to try that!

It’s very much an Austrian-German thing. Kürbiskremesuppe (Cream of Pumpkin soup) is one of those things all their grannies made, especially amongst the poorer classes. We’ve no Germanic family connections but do have several Austrian friends, especially in the Alps and in Vienna.The oil is moderately distinctive and quite viscous so it’s great for coating and, as with this recipe, acting together with the black pepper a bit like a marinade.

I suspect I won’t come across it in Tescos then, but perhaps one day I’ll leave the UK again and come across it!! 😂
