Perfect boiled eggs
1950dan @cook_2698952
Makes Soft Boiled Eggs @ 5,000 ft elevation. This is the worst way to cook eggs.

Adre @cook_2709185
Also when cooking add a tablespoon of baking soda and they peel just as easy. No need to refrigerate.
AngelicLivingston @cook_2719349
I've always found my eggs easier to peel while they are still warm. I've even tested it by taking eggs from the same pot and running cold water over just enough to be able to hold and peel it and let some become completely cold and all the hot/warm ones peeled much easier! this recipe's method will save on power and won't make your kitchen as hot in the summer.
BakerBoi @cook_2730237
Great! My eggs were good and easy to peel, and my yolks weren't gray, thats because they weren't cooked, they were disgusting. A full star is a lot, what's really deserved is half a star, the full one is only because I feel bad for you and all these idiots who actually eat the yolks. :-@ *-*
Cstreu @cook_2783020
I love it! Been trying to adjust recipes to achieve perfect hard boiled eggs and the salt helps the peels come off easier. Thanks!

Drea0223 @cook_2799689
nice! I never thought of using oil. I'm excited to try it now and I honestly have no use for boiled eggs right now but I'm gonna boil them anyhow to give it a try! Thanks for the idea. I'll repost a review after I cook them. :flower
Duncan0668 @cook_2800852
I drain and place my eggs in ice water for a few minutes and the shells peel easily.

Frostbyrd @cook_2814932
Mmm! A perfect yellow colour masterpiece! I didn't get to snap a picture but I will the next time I make it. Thank you so very much, now I don't have to worry about my boiled eggs being to soft or having it boiled for too long! :rabbit

KarMarDes @cook_2860289
For people like me who forget the eggs are on the stove ...here's a FOOL PROOF way that my husband gave me (after making fun of me as I struggled with getting shells off that eggs I boiled...I was shocked this worked!!) Bring water to full rolling boil, place eggs in water using a spoon so they don't break, cook for aprox 1/2 an hour...yes 1/2 an hour =) maybe 25 mins... remove from heat, drain water and fill the pot with cold water and ice cubes. Let stand in cold water 'til eggs are cool enough to handle. Perfect every time! Shells almost come off by themselves! :-P

MMOBRIEN @cook_2891564
Yup! If you want an easy to peel egg always use older eggs. Fresh for fried or scrambled. Your eggs should also be room temp upon boil but may or may not work with her instructions time wise. My personal favorite is boiled eggs in the mornings sprinkled with Tabasco or Habanero Sauce! That'll wake a gal up!
Mattyslice718 @cook_2900675
Best hard boiled egg ever. Eggs came out soft, creamy tasting but still perfectly cooked with beautiful bright yolks. Never gonna have to look at nasty greyish green stuff again. Tastes great with a little goya adobo sprinkled on.

Maplemum @cook_2896203
You've heard the cliché remark "She can't cook, she can't even boil an egg", seems there's a lot of us that can't :-D

MsKipper @MsKipper
i boil my eggs and the simmer for about 6-7 minutes.... BUT THIS SOUNDS GREAT... i rinse my eggs immediately in cold water and let it run over the eggs for about 2 minutes.... then i fill the pan with cold water and crack eggs well and place them in the cold water... so the water gets under the peel.... its easy to peel... my mom did it this way... so i just do it.... ive never had the 'peel' problem... i saw a gf have issues..... but i just never have o_O
Nichole1186 @cook_2928569
I followed this recipe exactly for five eggs and went to peel the eggs and they were not done what so ever.

Jessa Leigh @cook_2931975
Perfect. I did used this exact way for my deviled eggs. After running cold water over them at the end, I kept them in the pot with the cold water and put some ice cubes in it and let them chill for 5 minutes. They peeled perfectly. I'll have to remember this for next time!
Ri1383 @cook_2954534
Really does work perfectly every time I make it! Simple enough for anyone to pull it off!

SavvyDiz @cook_2968102
The egg yolks were beautiful, but, for some reason, 4 of 6 cracked. Luckily, it isn't Easter, and I was making "Inside-out Deviled Eggs" (code for egg salad, because my son won't countenance THAT...LOL) The oil in the water didn't help me at all, but, then again 2/3 of my eggs cracked, so that might've played a part...awesome recipe insofar as the eggs had no gray or green and were perfectly done! (I started my three minute timer when they were at a good boil, not at the tiny bubbles stage; that might be an ambiguous direction and the cause of the undercooking for some people...just a thought!) :detective
TAColomb @cook_2989447
Awesome! I followed your directions to the letter and they were "perfect". I couldn't wait a half hour for them to cool in the fridge, and truth to tell I prefer mine a little warm. Also, I agree with the comment that you should start the 3 minute timer at the rolling boil and not when you see the small bubbles. 4 of 4 no cracked eggs. ~(o.o)~

Woodypecker @cook_3015221
Poke small holes in the eggs before cooking, it makes them easier to peel.
allen.thilk @cook_3049165
The trick is to use eggs close to the expiration date, they peel just fine then. I had the same problem before this.

andon @cook_3064687
psh no salt..
lol try adding 1/4 cup salt next time... it never fails and is consistent everytime no matter the eggs age. it losens the eggs membrane so they practically fall out of the shell, as far as anything else learn how to cook eggs well.

Thank you for sharing this with us. Now I don't hate boiling eggs. :grace

bobby4139 @cook_3132375
since I've seen this recipe, I haven't done eggs any other way....they're perfect Everything!!!

christinaxrn @cook_3195354
wonderful..added an extra teaspoon of canola oil and PERFECT.. :chef

cindroo2002 @cook_3198802
The fresher the eggs are, the harder they are to peel. Less air space in the egg.

debnjase @cook_3246948
This is awesome. I was raised to boil them until there is that gray color around the yolk. Cooking it this way is much better tasting and looking. Love it!
des @cook_3249358
An easier tip kind of done the same way put eggs in a pot, fill water to an inch above, bring to a boil and let boil one minute, then put lid on and move pot from burner and keep lid on for 10 mins .. Thats the one i follow same results :) i heard baking soda helps to either not crack eggs or help peel easier ? ..

crimsonking50 @cook_3219380
Good recipe. As for Dan, no recipe works good at 5000 feet. You have to make some adjustments.

aubnizzle @cook_3094146
Eggs were slightly undercooked and difficult to peel. Color was good but not worth the effort.

Donna Lawson @cook_3269238
Mine were a little under done. I boil mine exactly 10 minutes then remove from heat and put in cold water. Perfect.
fayray13 @cook_3310955
If you tap the pointy end of the egg and begin peeling from that end its easier to peel, that is where the air pocket is which when broken breaks the shells inner membrane. Science Rocks!

evilaydenn @cook_3305149
I tried this and they turned out severely undercooked, completely inedible. The egg whites weren't even cooked let alone the yolk. I now only use one technique for boiled eggs that work every time. Put eggs in pot and make sure water completely covers eggs. Once they're boiling put on timer for 10 minutes and let them continuously boil. Rinse with cold water once done. I've never once had green or gray yolks, didn't even know that was a problem.
ftlaudman @cook_3324444
This is absolutely the worst most horrible message I have ever use... I lost 50 percent of the white of the egg trying to peel them... Good luck!
freestyleCook @cook_3323043
I have found that it is easiest to start peeling an egg from the end with an air pocket first. The rest comes off slick! The air pocket is in the large end of the egg!

goatfarmer @Goatfarmer
great egg recipe, maybe i am the only one who DID NOT know this, but the eggs you use should be at least a couple of weeks old...really fresh eggs DO NOT PEEL , the shell sticks so so so bad.

iLoveEatingAnimals @cook_3378303
Always turn out perfect. Those complaining about peeling.. you doin it wrong.

jamie2113 @cook_3400600
I barely cover them with water then boil all the water out lol works every time
jade 1996 @cook_3395813
wow boiled eggs mad easy to make well make eggs the way you wanna make it will
make it our way B-)
make it our way B-)
jax64429 @cook_3407561
for easy peel eggs every time add baking soda to the water. works every time :-)
jan571 @cook_3401585
Better yet..... bring to rolling boil. turn off and COVER POT. let sit 15 min to finish cooking. Ready to peel . I just run under tepid tap water. Even less heat in the kitchen and it always works. nothing new though......great grandmother used this method. Im 60 so method probably older than god!

jenerator42087 @cook_3418105
This worked great! Ate one right after and it was delicious thanks for the great tip!
john.angus.58 @cook_3445262
Works great. My mom complimented how well my eggs turned out for my macaroni salad

kellygreen91 @cook_3490913
This recipe worked great for the most part. The one thing i did different was that the first dozen i boiled i put warm to hot water over the eggs to begin with. These eggs turned out perfect. The second time i remembered cold water, and they didnt get done enough. Even the whites were runny. I do have an older stove which might be affecting that.

Maia @cook_3500579
What I have found helpful in addition to soaking in cold water was to soak the eggs in ice and water and peel under cold running water.

Kristina @cook_3515722
Does not peel correctly! I cooked 6 eggs only 3 could be peeled. It depends on the egg.
kitchenrookie35 @cook_3506043
Thank you SO much! They did work perfectly and I didn't stress out while I was cooking!

Kim @cook_3519664
I boil my water on high on the small burner, once the water is boiling add the eggs for 15 minutes, when done run them under water long enough to cool them so I can peel them. Always perfect. :-)

lori.careyfrisbie @cook_3563488
I learned the trick to use baking soda I put 2 tablespoons of the beginning and do all the steps in this and they come out once to cool off for one or two minutes I peel them immediately and they come out perfect and they peel like a dream

Mae Leigh @cook_3580248
Just wanted to say thank you for this. Mine used to come out with nice creamy yolks but not recently. Will try this. :-)
mimama @cook_3633633
Put cooked eggs in ice water immediately to cool quickly and you will have perfect yellow yolks every time. :ohyeaah
oldbanshee @cook_3706519
add 1/2 a cup of white or cider vinegar to the waterand most eggs will peel in 1 piece

Samantha @cook_3714018
I'm the Queen of Green Yolks and I don't want to be. Can't wait to try this method!

phogan13 @cook_3729326
eggs came out good but don't listen to the person who said to add oil because it's a waste.
I tried it and I added oil and only one egg shell came off without any hassle
7 eggs and only 1 was completely alright
stick with the old fast method using salt.

pecantan71 @cook_3723857
I had a lot of eggs too boil for Easter and they all came out perfectly! Thanks for sharing!

rijstevlaai @cook_3771564
I have found that waiting until the water starts boiling before putting in the eggs is a way more reliable method for cooking eggs. That's because the water will always be 100 C, no matter how big the pan is. The only variable is the size of the eggs. This way you can also cook the eggs so the white is hard, but the yolk is runny, which is my favourite type of cooked egg ( 4 minutes usually).
Ryan @cook_3792091
This is the only way I make hard boiled eggs. I shock them in ice water rather then run water over them

Vanessa @cook_3835744
this is awesome. I always mess up the timing, but this was on point and so much quicker than what I've been doing. which is probably why they came out horrible in the first place lol thanks bunches :-)
sekarumnrtrn @cook_3818540
well is it the only right way how to get perf. bolied egg?
i've never failed to boiled an egg, and it comes perf even if i didnt using your way haha ~(o.o)~

shinitsy1 @cook_3836672
Eggs were perfectly cooked but they were still very difficult to peel. Ended up with very litttle egg left after I was done. :-\
smurfettemod @cook_3852337
sorry but all hard boiled eggs will peel very easy and the yolks will be yellow if you cool them down with cold water straight after taking of the heat, no matter however long you boil them for.obviously do not over boil them though or the yolks will be too dry. you don't need to add anything to the water, only fresh eggs. :chef

sogreen @cook_3854741
I don't know why I tried it but it works. Personally my method? My stove is on high the whole time and I just wait till one of them cracks lol
strodogg @cook_3873272
for those talking about salt "doing something to the egg" I thought I would share some insight. all the salt does is raise the boiling temperature of the water...therefore cooking at a higher temperature....just fyi.

supernanny @supernanny5
Just did this...the yolks did come out beautifully with no greeny grey color. However, they did NOT peel well (except for the 3 eggs that were older..i marked them before to check the difference). So if you want eggs to peel well, USE OLDER EGGS! Fresh eggs will NOT peel well. I have also tried method of adding vinegar or salt=no difference!

tmcneill13 @cook_3918617
eggs came out perfect! they didn't peel to good but that's OK cuz they tasted good!!
travinator1991 @cook_3927117
disappointed with this, I bit into the egg and the yolk was hardly cooked. :pinocchio
usstackett @cook_3939720
Adding salt/baking soda will help keep the shell hard. Adding vinegar makes the shell whiter. This is especially a great method when boiling eggs for Easter. The die for the eggs will absorb into the shell better. As for oil, this does nothing for the egg, but can help to keep water from boiling over.

Vicky@Jacks Free-From Cookbook @allergyfriendlycook
Gave this recipe to my neighbour and she said the timing was absolutely perfect. Great!
wildbillmaynard @cook_3963397
worst advice i have ever recived . i wll post the way to do it right .

xd45 @cook_3970759
this is a great recipe made 2 doz. for for thanksgiving came out perfect. thanks ~(o.o)~
tklove21 @cook_3917409
The eggs did come out better than I usually get them to come out. Peeling was slightly better. I might add a pinch of salt next time and see if that makes a difference.
