Thanks to Shinae, my family used this exact dry-brine recipe last year and our turkey turned out to be the juiciest, yummiest turkey ever! We are doing it again this year and I will be sure to post pics.

This recipe is so basic. "Dry brined" seems like an oxymoron. I wonder how it differs from brining as far as results?

For me, the difference in result between dry brining and wet brining is that the meat retains more of a natural flavor and texture - sometimes wet brining results in a mildly hammy flavor and texture - while still retaining moisture and imparting flavor throughout the flesh. As to the term, it just means you get something similar but not quite the same as wet brining, only without the additional water. Brine is created from the juices from the bird itself.

Hey Shinae. I would assume the cooking method wouldn’t matter. I like to smoke my turkey. Do you think it would turn out just as good?

Absolutely! I actually remember reading a Traeger dry brine recipe where they mentioned that someone won the annual grill master combination with a smoked dry brined turkey. Like you said, the brining benefits the bird regardless of the cooking method. :)
