Don't have too add the desiccated coconut and glace' cherries,could have plain flapjacks.Oats as flapjacks is an alternative to Porridge.
The flapjacks are best stored in an airtight container and eaten within 1 week.They can also be frozen for up to 1 month.

Lyle's Golden Syrup is a thick sticky sweet liquid,might be possible too use Canadian Maple Syrup,but I don't think it is as thick and sticky as Golden Syrup.Cannot use plain sugar - might be possible too make a thick Syrup caramel from sugar too act as a binding ingredient for the other ingredients used in making the Flapjacks.
