Great recipe @bianca_eatsy - i loved your story about how your grandmother's only concern was just about using the right pot and correct heat. Reminds me of my own grandparents who would always use the same old pots all the time (even when the handles had fallen off one of them hehehe) as they said it gave flavour to their food. St Helena Island (where I am from) also has a similar looking "meat pie" but ours is filled with a curried corned beef filling.
