I usually use cornmeal and flour but this sounds really good and worth a try :excited Definitely a staple here in TN.

I've made this twice now. Great recipe! I had my 5 year mix the ingredients for the batter and dredge and she loved being so involved! Only difference I made was to cut the hot spices in half. Used a tsp of Crystal hot sauce, half a tsp of garlic & onion powder, and a tbsp of dill to ranch dressing. Kiddo claimed the last 5 pickle slices and gave me a smug smile. I also used Claussen wholes for the pickle. Interested in trying some local pickle spears to see if the breading holds up.
