Hello my dear, this is a great recipe I really like is, but the only problem is that this is not Hungarian. I was born and raised in Hungary. We make it with a bone in chicken such as drumstick or thighs and no chicken broth need. 1-2 whole Finely chopped yellow onions, 3-4 cloves of garlic sautéed on lard, add at least 1-2 tbs red paprika and about 1 oz of water just not to burn the paprika. Then add chicken drumsticks or thighs fill it with enough water to almost cover the meat salt and pepper to taste and cook it until tender about 80min or so, on low. We serve it with homemade egg noodles (nokedli) and some sour cream on top. A lot of people like to mix the sour cream in the paprikash (I'm too 😉😋+extra on top) this is the original Hungarian chicken paprikash recipe . 🤗

Thanks for your input. Im familiar with the proper recipe but I allow my 6 7 and 8 year old culinary students to adapt recipes to their tastes.

It's a good thing that you allow your students to adapt their recipes but once you change major things in the original recipe than is no longer can be called in that case Hungarian. Misleading information for people out there who are Not familiar with the Hungarian cuisine. There are so many false Hungarian recipes out there which all started like this one, with just a little bit of change and after someone reading this recipe also going to change something and then others too and at the end is a totally different dish but is still called Hungarian. My problem is not with the recipe! It's what you call it for! I appreciate that you teaching children to cook but if you teach recipes of different countries and traditions than I think it should be the original recipe.

You let them change things and this is how they grow up misunderstanding everything and not know the origins and traditions of other countries. After this the original recipe will disappear and no one will ever know which one is the original and which one is the fake. And after all I kindly ask you to remove the word Hungarian from your recipe. Thank you for your understanding !!
