QOTW: What's your go-to cooking salt and why?

Roger Searle @cook_3961778
Kosher, Himalayan Pink and Smoked Sea Salt are my three go-to choices. Kosher is a great all-purpose, Himalayan Pink as a finisher and Smoked Sea adds that earthy flavour profile to dishes.

Smoked salt is a delicious finishing salt! Sometimes we even use it for our Mezcal cocktail rims. 😁

Mezcal cocktail rims! Tell me more! I would love to know some good Mezcal recipes if you have any? I once had a really good one with black pepper that I want to attempt to replicate.

One of my favorites is a super simple Mezcal Paloma with a really crisp, bubbly grapefruit soda, and a squeeze of lime. Just take a rocks glass, fill it with ice, put in a jigger of Mezcal, fill the rest with the soda, and put a healthy squeeze of lime in it! Really refreshing. I have a few more I'll dig up for you. :)

Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt in a red box; this has thicker granules than Morton’s, and is less salty!

I haven’t tried that brand yet. I’m going to look for it when I have to refill.

I like pink Himalayan salt in a grinder on coarse the best. I like that it is so versatile and can be used on most any dish. A little bit goes a long way. Also it is supposedly healthier?

I use pink salt too! I have it in a grinder! Mine is fresh and organic! I use it in everything!
