Lots of effort, but worth it. Unless you can drive to Miami, where they are done perfectly for you. Crab must be fresh, or you are wasting your time.

So happy to see this. My husband and I are from Bradenton. When we were little our parents would stop at the Seabreeze at the port of Tampa and get lots of crab rolls .  You couldn’t drive through Tampa without stopping for these.  We’re retired now. Just talking about how much we enjoyed these when we were kids. Googled the restaurant and found out it’s closed.  Very happy to get the recipe. Thanks.

There are a number of places in Brandon and Tampa that make these and do it very well. I am glad that these brought back memories. Sea breeze restaurant was such an awesome place, right close to the shipyards. My mom and dad and aunts and uncles all went there. When we heard about it closing I decided to start making them myself. There are a bunch of restaurants that serve these freshly made. La Septima Cafe in Brandon Florida on Kings Avenue is a very good example!!

This recipe is almost an exact replica of one my family has made for many years. Since the 1920's. They came over from the Bahamas, then to key west. I've had plenty of these in my lifetime but never made them. So, my mother and I are going to make them together for the first time today. I got curious and googled, and found your recipe. In comparison it's almost identical. Ybor City, yep!
I'm excited to make them! They're so good!

I love these. But I dont need that many at once. Do you have the recipe by half, peehaps?

I never cut it in half, but you could freeze some of them and cook them at a later date to save yourself time. I don't have a recipe for a smaller batch though, sorry.

I bought some frozen devil crabs from Cocos and I'm not sure on the temp. to cook them in the oven.

I am sorry I have never cooked them in the oven. I haven't cooked from frozen. I am sorry I can't help you.

I grew up in Buckhorn Springs and we always went to the Seabreeze restaurant to grab a dozen. They are a lot more expensive now. The Columbia restaurant was also a good place to get them. Thanks for the recipe!

@D6026 yeah they are about the price of one now would buy that dozen then. Uncle Willie's Sandwich shop back in the 1980's had them the size of a football. It was at least a 2 meal portion. That's when I was working at Tampa Shipyards. Now the one to go to is La Septima Cafe at Lumbstum and Kings in Brandon.
