Egg gives softness to cookies, the direct substitute is flax egg.
There is one more substitute which I haven't tried but as per bakers it works - For 1 egg substitute, in a bowl mix 1.5 tbsp oil , 1.5 tbsp water and 1 teaspoon baking powder
