Toast bread

I was annoyed at the lack of soft crusted, low salt, sandwich breads using a bread machine. I finally found a satisfactory recipe and adjusted it myself to make a loaf that doesn't have a very hard crust, is soft & tasty on the inside, isn't overly salty and fits in my toaster. I use a Panasonic SD-2501 bread machine.

This is a great bread. It is good toasted. It took about 4 hours to make.

This is a fluffy and delicious bread. I slice it, freeze it, and when I want to eat it, I take it out and put it in the toaster twice until it's well toasted. It turns out great.

I cooked spaghetti but I needed something to pair it with. I tried making garlic bread with whatever ingredients I have since we don't have one at home ready. It turned out really well. Love the texture of the toasted garlic. Hope you try it. 😊

I have been baking bread for over 50 years now. I have used various recipes over time, but this is the one that it has evolved to. I have been using this recipe for the past 6 - 7 yrs. My family and friends all love it! It is especially good toasted and for making grilled cheese sandwiches. This recipe makes 5 loaves. I make a batch about every two weeks and freeze several of them until needed. This is similar to the recipe that I used in my scratch bakery some years ago but perhaps even a little better.

Sometimes you don't know what to do with bread crusts but this French toast is absolutely heavenly! I love this dish... even more than regular french toast!!The key is to macerate the bread over 10 minutes after mixing all ingredients to bring the bits of toast together.If you add a few drops of vanilla oil, it will turn into an excellent dessert!! This is my macrobiotic version of a recipe by Harumi Kurihara that was in "LEE" magazine about 10(?) years ago.This bread doesn't keep well, so wrap and freeze any leftovers in ziplock bags. Reheat in a toaster oven for a freshly baked taste.Our small electric oven doesn't get very hot. If the bread does start to get too brown, I adjust the temperature by lowering the heat to 170℃.
