Hello @hirokoliston ! I write a question here as it seems there is no “message” or “contact” facility in cookpad. I have a sansho tree in my garden and now is the time to harvest the leaves. What can I do with them? (Not tsukudani with little fish) I dried the leaves and keep in the jar to sprinkle to salad/fried rice. What else can I do?

I envy you, Hiroko-san. Sanshō leaves... that's something I miss very much. My absolute favourite way to enjoy Sanshō leaves is mixing ground or finely chopped up young Sanshō leaves with 'Sumiso', sweet and sour miso dressing, and eat freshly boiled Konnyaku, my grandmother used to make, with the dressing. Please have a look at my 'Bocconcini & Cherry Tomatoes With Basil Miso Sauce'. The dressing goes well with seafood, Bamboo shoot, etc.You can add some leaves to clear soup OR sushi, buy that's for fragrance. If you want to eat them, Tsukudani is good. You can add some seeds as well.

Sweet Miso sauce for Tofu OR Eggplant, you can add Sanshō leaves, ground OR finely chopped up.

@hirokoliston Thank you. Sumiso sounds good. I will look into your recipe. It’s a pity, if you lived close I could give loads of leaves! (Can’t post to Australia…)

@hirokoliston I think sansho tree will grow easily in Australia.

I believe so, but Australia has many strict regulations of plant import and it is almost impossible to bring in a plant with roots privately, and no one is selling Sanshō trees. I miss its smell.
