@Lees I bought green heirloom tomatoes at the grocery store. Lol.

@Lees not faux, I made a mess of fried green tomatoes off of my plants last fall. February rolled around and my craving for more had to be quenched. Once a year isn't enough. Lol

@wingmaster I hear you. I have grown tomatoes for many many years, and I sure as hell miss them in the winter months. I have just finished getting my soil in shape this week. Thinking about setting out some plants next month. I'll have to cover them several times before our last frosts in April...

@Lees I grow mine in buckets inside of a tire. Keeps the roots warm and they go crazy.. but I dont plant until after last frost.

@wingmaster For you last frost is a bit to late here in Texas. I'm setting out my onion plants today. Texas 10/15's

@Lees I get established plants, I don't have room to do starts where I am living.

@wingmaster You should have a really good onion climate as long as the ground doesn't stay just to wet. They love your cooler climate!

@Lees I live on the beach, my soil is clay and doesn't drain. That's why I have to use buckets and raised beds. Walla walla sweets do very well here though

@wingmaster No black land then for your situation. Gulf coast all you can grow is rice and palm trees. Lol
