First time I ever made 'biscuits' (we don't usually have them in the UK) Had no buttermilk so used sour cream. Worked very well, really fluffy! Although I did have to use twice as much liquid than the amount stated, also used Suet and grated butter instead of shortening - Will definitely try these again! :positive

Biscuits are delish but Chef Barbe is a DimWit. Learn how to spell before being unreasonably condescending. There are better and more humane ways to express yourself...learn how! :annoyed

I didn't have buttermilk but I did have some heavy whipping cream leftover from dinner so I used that and cold butter for the shortening and they came out great. Ugly but great, even Grandma and Great Grandma liked them. My first attempt at 'scratch' biscuits

In an old cookingbook, I saw a tip how to make my own buttermilk. You take for each cup of milk 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar. Let it set for 5 min. and voila! Use it as buttermilk. I make it always for buttermilk biscuits and they taste always good! Make the oven on 350 and use a light hand on the dough.
