Would it be possible to do this in a 9 inch cake pan instead of using a springform pan?

Hi, yes you can use a 10 inch or 9 inch cake man just making sure it’s deep enough to hold all the batter. Also beware that since it’s not a springform pan you won’t be able to take it out in one piece you’ll have to cut slices which is fine it doesn’t affect the taste at all.
